Chris Brochu recently wrote:
"I put 'professionals' in quotation marks because I don't know the
line one
must cross to bear that title. Are paleontology students considered
professionals? At what point in our educational ontogeny do we get such
a distinction?"
1.) Paleontology 'students' include any biped practicing in this crazy
field who is still breathing and thinking
2.) One becomes a 'professional' after one has had three consecutive
slides jam within the projector at a national meeting, and you end up
taking about things your audience cannot see.
Hope that clears things up fer ya'!
