BugPic – Free, user-friendly Windows software.
BugPic automates the most common tasks performed by paleontologists on digital photographs: - Cropping - Adding a scale bar - Adding text - Adjusting brightness and contrast
Additionally, these features make BugPic very useful: - you can browse directly to a digital camera attached to the microscope - the size of the cropping square and scale bar can be chosen from a list of canned sizes or manually defined. - the settings for cropping size and scale bars are "remembered" from picture to picture, so each picture is consistent. - text can be added to the picture in black or white, with adjustable font size. - the fossil name can be added to the picture from a stored dictionary. - for BugWin users, the last fossil selected in the program can easily be added to the picture. - notes about the picture can be saved and reloaded with the picture. - BugPic can automatically load the pictures and captions into MS Excel.
