Just a quick note to thank the surprisingly large number of applicants who applied for our last-minute internships! All of our positions have now been filled with people from Washington, California, Nebraska, and Florida and they are happily esconced and prospecting in the John Day Basin as we speak (while I'm trapped at this keyboard for the rest of the day ... fume ...). Next year, we'll try to provide a bit more lead time. Thanks to all of you for your interest and applications; apologies for not writing this sooner. I'm just today back from some surveying fieldwork at Golden Gate, which included outcrops described in a field guide as follows: "This is a clothing optional public beach that provides excellent exposures." Hmmm. ted __________________________________________ Theodore Fremd Paleontologist, John Day Fossil Beds Science Advisor, Pacific West Region U.S. National Park Service Ted_Fremd@nps.gov TFremd@.uoregon.edu 541-987-2333 x 19 32651 Highway 19, Kimberly, OR 97848 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "Sometimes I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us." - Bill Watterson ("Calvin and Hobbes")
