Re: paleonet digital camera for copy stand work

Hi John,
I personally use two cameras for this purpose :
the first one is a very cheap model : the Nikon 775 (the actual
reference is 885 today). You can shoot up to 2cm from the lens ! This is
a bridge camera and you don't need to add something on the front of the
lens to shoot little specs. My mind is that for a such price (under 350
euros) this model has the better lens you can find (the others are built
with plastic lenses). 3.5 Mega pix of native resolution.

the second is more expensive (1800 euros with a macro lens) : EOS 20D
from Canon. With this one, you can shoot up to 8 Megapix. This is ideal
for publications.
Mine is equiped with the macro lens EF-S 60mm f1:2.8. The EF-S is a
serie specially designed for the EOS 20D and cannot be used with other
cameras designed for Canon. With this one, you can shoot upto 1:1, with
a distance between the lens and the object around 25-30cm. It exists
another model that can reach 5:1 (X5) but the price... no comment !

If you want some other specifications, feel free to contact me off-list.

All the best,
Eric
