Dear Colleagues, The webpage for info and registration for "Bivalvia 2006" - International Congress on Bivalvia - is open. Early registration ends 1st of March. Please visit http://bivalvia2006.uab.es for details. I am still trying to get travel funds for young researchers and funds for publication of a proceeding volume (3 applications open). There are several offers from ISI-published journals but still the most economic one requires financial help. Unfortunately, I will probably have no news before end of April from the first application, the others even later. JOURNALS HAVE A STRICT TIMETABLE. If publication support is granted, the dead-line for submission will be definitely within two months after the end of the congress, PROBABLY EARLIER, the review system will follow standards for ISI-journals. Please keep this in mind, if you want to prepare a manuscript for the proceedings. There are not so many oportunities for bivalvologists to meet. Keynotes will be on a wide range of biological and paleontological topics: population genetics, evolutionary development, evolution from a paleontologic perspective, conservational biology of freshwater clams, and biomineralization. So, I hope to see many of you in Bellaterra. Cheers, Niko -- __________________________________ Nikolaus Malchus PhD (Geology) (RyC 1, I3) Dept. de Geologia/Unitat Paleontologia Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona Campus, Edifici Cs 08193 Bellaterra (Cerdanyola del Vallès) Catalonia, SPAIN Tel 34-93-581-1464 Fax 34-93-581-1263 nikolaus.malchus@uab.es n.malchus@gmx.net (accepts large attachments) NEW: The webpage for the International Congress on Bivalvia, 22-27 July 2006 is now available: http://bivalvia2006.uab.es ____________________________________
