After a divorce and some other problems he found the Lord.  He didn't need Dawkins for that, but he certainly capitalized on him once he got the spirit and decided to attack evolution.   He didn't like what Dawkins or other evolutionists wrote because it made no rational sense to him.  So he says in http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/05/14/AR2005051401222_pf.html .
