Re: paleonet Russian journal spelling

Dear Shi Yukun and others
I agree with James' Cyrillic-Latin transliteration, but point out one necessary
modification: the rendition "Trudy Geologicheskiy Institut" is grammatically
incorrect. A comma is needed thus: "Trudy, Geologicheskiy Institut".
But the rendition "Trudy, Geologicheskiy Institut, Akademiya Nauk SSSR" is best
- there may be more than one Geologicheskiy Institut, just as there is more than
one Paleontologicheskiy Institut.
Best

To Shi Yukun (& all other interested Paleonetters),

Hi - the Russian geology journal you've cited is referred to in various ways.
The "proper" way, from my perspective, is the following transliteration: "Trudy
Geologicheskiy Institut"

A fuller transliteration could be:
"Trudy Geologicheskiy Institut, Akademiya Nauk SSSR"

Different volumes in this series have slightly varying names.

A "shorthand" way of citing the journal that I sometimes see in Russian
bibliographies is: "Trudy GIN".

Best,
