Position Announcement
Paleontological Crew Members

SWCA Environmental Consultants is currently accepting applications for
paleontological monitors in our Orange County (Mission Viejo, CA) office.
SWCA is now an employee-owned company of biologists, archaeologists,
paleontologists and planners that specializes in environmental regulatory
compliance and natural and cultural-resource management services.  Full-time
and part-time hourly positions with flexible scheduling are available.
Salary is commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities:
Paleontologic monitoring of project sites and fossil collection and salvage,
with an emphasis on thorough, accurate and efficient collection of
paleontologic, lithologic and stratigraphic data.  Includes assistance with
fossil surveys and large excavations, and with laboratory preparation,
curation and analysis as needed.  Most fieldwork will take place in southern
California, but work in other locations may be required (lodging and per
diem provided).

Minimal Qualifications:
Completion of college-level course work towards a Bachelors degree in
Geology or Paleontology is required.  The ability to measure stratigraphic
sections and describe sedimentary rocks is highly desirable.  All positions
require good physical health, including the ability to walk long distances,
sometimes over rugged terrain and/or in inclement weather.  Also required is
the ability to carry various types of field equipment, and the use of
excavation tools.  Applicants must have a valid driveršs license, good
driving record, and their own vehicle.
