I used to see if I could spot remnants of Neanderthal
genes in those around me.  I gave up since you never
seem to get the head features right all at the same
time - very good in one way usually meant very bad in
another.  The closest I got was Sir Isiah Berlin.  

Incidentally, on a remotely related theme, Oliver the
upright chimp is excellent evidence for modern chimps
coming from upright ancestors.  His stance is so
natural with all the bones/muscles etc working
together without tiring, that he has to be some kind
of "throwback" in the sense of a suite of "turned-off
genes" being turned off again.  (We should all bear in
mind that "Evidence is simply those observations
better explained by one theory than another").
