PALEONTOLOGIST/CURATOR

The University of Washington is seeking applications for a tenure-track
faculty position to serve as academic curator of paleontology at the Burke
Museum <http://www.burkemuseum.org/> (http://www.burkemuseum.org) and as a
member of the faculty in either the Department of Earth and Space Sciences
or the Department of Biology. Appointment is anticipated at the Assistant
Professor rank. In exceptional circumstances, appointment at the Associate
or Full Professor level may be considered for candidates who have
demonstrated a commitment to mentoring underrepresented students in the
sciences. Ph.D. required by date of appointment.

The successful candidate should have a record of cutting-edge research in
such areas as the biotic response to changes in tectonics and climate, mass
extinctions, and long-term evolutionary changes, matched with the expertise
to curate related collections, guide student research based on collections,
and promote general scholarly and community access to collections. The
candidate will also be expected to compete successfully for external
research funding and to participate in undergraduate and graduate teaching.
