Hi all. I probably represent another typical demographic: tenured full professor, relatively well funded. I haven't dropped any of my dozen or so journal subscriptions yet but am considering doing so in the near future for the simple reason that more and more are now available online through an institutional subscription. My money would probably be better spent on a new computer, 14C date, or microscope. I haven't hit a space issue wall yet but I can see a time in the next decade or so when that will become a factor. I also find that since articles are so easily accessed online I find myself downloading the pdf to read even when the same article is on my shelf. I also am reevaluating whether to even buy reprints of my own articles in the future. Reprint requests have plummeted in the last couple of years. Although this may in part reflect a disinterest by my peers in my research there is also the factor that it is much easier for someone to download a free pdf, which can be obtained instantly rather than send out a request. My 2 cents worth. Tim -- Dr. R.
