paleonet Hydrogeology/Marine Geology position



Assistant Professor of Geology. The Department of Physics and Geology at California State University, Stanislaus, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position beginning in Fall 2005. Our growing program seeks to hire either 
1.) a marine geologist with some interest/expertise in physical oceanography, atmospheric science, and coastal geologic engineering or 
2.) a hydrogeologist with some interest/expertise in numerical modeling and geochemistry. 
The successful candidate will be expected to 
1.) be an excellent instructor interested in developing new courses and employing innovative teaching strategies; 
2.) teach courses within the geology major in her/his field of expertise, courses designed to train geoscience educators, and general education courses (including courses at the Multi-Campus Regional Center in Stockton); 
3.) develop a field-based research program with opportunities for student involvement. The position is contingent upon the availability of funding. 

SALARY RANGE: 
Commensurate with qualifications and experience. As a member of the CSU System, we offer an attractive benefits package.

QUALIFICATIONS: 
A Ph.D. in either hydrogeology, marine geology, or coastal geologic engineering; ability to teach Geology majors, future K - 12 teachers, and students in general education; ability to perform and publish research; and an interest in involving undergraduates in research.

DEPARTMENT: 
The Geology Program at California State University, Stanislaus, was established in 1985, and offers a Bachelor of Science degree in geology. We have a concentration in Applied Geology (hydrogeology, environmental, and engineering geology). CSUS is a founding member of the Moss Landing Marine
Laboratories, and as such the new hire would have the opportunity to use top-of-the-line marine research facilities. Moreover, ground has been broken for a new science building scheduled to open in Fall of 2007.
