Don't forget to write and support Kathy Cox on that, but remember that evolution concerns BIOLOGY benchmarks in the proposed GA curriculum--don't forget that evolution is just as IMPORTANT in earth science education, and she still doesn't have that concept there at any level K-12. They also are not mentioning the age of the universe, Big Bang theory, the age of the earth, plate tectonics--to name some of the biggies--or they have shifted some of the ideas into very early age groups where the ideas may not be as appropriate. Next week, I'll have a complete listing of the things they are leaving out of the curriculum in relation to the Project 2061 guidelines generated by the AAAS. We have also designed our own Sympathy Card (that covers not only the "death" of evolution, but the other topics I mentioned as well, and a call for her to honor the separation of church and state) for Kathy Cox. If you want any of these items, please e-mail me offline at: swalker@gly.uga.edu. Thanks for all your support!
