Museum Curator of Vertebrate Paleontology

Carnegie Museum of Natural History (CMNH) is seeking a curator with active
research on dinosaurs and other Mesozoic vertebrates.  Areas of expertise
include, but are not limited to: phylogenetic systematics and evolution;
functional morphology; paleoecology and historical biogeography.

Responsibilities for collection: Curatorial supervision of a large research
collection of Mesozoic vertebrates, with greatest strengths in Jurassic
dinosaurs; development and improvement for collection storage, environment,
records and database in collaboration with other paleontology curators.

Responsibilities for public programs: CMNH is undertaking a major renovation
and construction project for an exhibit of its world-class collection of
dinosaurs called Dinosaurs in Their World.  During the next several years,
the appointed curator will serve as the lead scientific adviser for all
aspects of this exhibit project. Exhibit responsibilities will include
development of exhibit themes with other paleontology curators, working with
designers and architects to ensure the successful design, manufacturing and
implementation of this exhibit, and working with preparators to safeguard
specimens.  Educational responsibilities will include working with museum
educators in docent training, and other educational programs, such as public
lectures.  Other public interactions may include identifying specimens, and
working with public news media.

Responsibilities for scientific research: The curator is expected to develop
and maintain active specimen-based and field-oriented research on dinosaurs
and other Mesozoic vertebrates, with potential for external funding.
Interactions with other museum curators and with colleagues outside the
museum are encouraged through participation in scientific meetings,
professional service, teaching, and other activities for the advancement of
science.

The appointment will be at the assistant or associate curator level in
commensurate with experience.  Send curriculum vitae, no more than 5
