Title: Midwest Symposium of Student Paleo Research - New
Info
Hello Everyone.
The purpose of this email is to update everyone on the latest
developments related to the Midwest Symposium of Student Paleontologic
Research coming up this spring. Some important information has
just become available that will answer some people's questions that
have been sent to us.
First off, I would like to remind everyone that the deadline
for abstract submission is Friday, December 12, less than a month
away.
Secondly, we have looked into hotel rates for the conference and
have landed special deals at the best western on university avenue and
the Howard Johnson on West Johnson Street. Both locations are
offering single rooms for $84 dollars and double rooms for $94.
To secure these rates you must reserve your rooms before Feb. 5, 2004
and inform them that you are part of the MSSPR conference.
Additionally, I am pleased to announce that we have spoken to the
Burpee Museum in Rockford, Illinois and they have graciously decided
to bring their exciting small tyrannosaurid specimen from the Hell
Creek Formation (known as Jane) to the conference where it will be put
on temporary display in the UW-Madison Geology Museum for the duration
of the conference. This is truly a magnificent specimen and a
sight that everyone should see.
There are a few more interesting surprises as well, but I don't
want this email to become too long. On Wednesday, November 19th
we will be sending out our second circular of information about the
conference. It is eight pages long and contains all the
important details everyone should know along with information about
more surprises that we have put together for the conference.
Everyone who received our first mailing will receive this second
circular in the mail shortly. If you have not received previous
mailings about this conference and would like to receive a copy of our
second circular, please email paleo_uw@geology.wisc.edu.
Eventually the second circular will be available online at our website
and the website itself will be updated to reflect this new information
we are releasing, but it may be a week or so before that
happens.
Sorry for the long message everyone and I hope to see many of you
in Madison in the Spring!
Best Wishes
