Dear friends and
colleagues,
One of these days I finished Internal Report 171
(National Museum of Natural History, Palaeontology Dept, Leiden, Holland) on a
pyrite disintegration disaster in a collection of small Cainozoic pyritised
fossils (planktonic gastropods), although kept in silicone oil.
In this report (10 pp) the damage in the collection
is quantified (and illustrated), some notes on pyrite disintegration are given,
as well as some thoughts on 'what now'.
Anybody interested in the subject is welcome to
request a copy of this report per email.
