paleonet The I-170 Pennsylvanian Exposure

Greetings

I seldom post to the list ... However, I think the membership
will really enjoy viewing this web publication.

Some are aware of my work at the 1-170 Pennsylvanian
locality in St. Louis, MO where I have been collecting
fossils and posting them on my website.

For a number of years I have wanted a geologist to visit
this locality and publish it.  It is a fascinating locality.
A few years ago Dr. Norman King who is a Professor
of Geology at the Univ. of Southern Indiana agreed to
do just that.  We have been working on a web publication
ever since.

We released the web publication today.  We would like to invite
the membership to view the web publication.

There is a Technical Discussion with links to over 130 pictures.

Genesis and Evolution of the I-170 Pennsylvanian Project
Fascinating reading ... Tells the story behind the publication.

Although I was heavily involved with the project, this publication
is by Dr. Norman King.  I worked with him and built the website.
However, Dr. King is the author and I am NOT a co-author.
Technical questions and comments should be directed to Dr. King
(email link is on the website)

Dr. King would be very interested in hearing your comments.

OK ... Here it is.

The I-170 Pennsylvanian Exposure in St. Louis, Missouri

The following link will take you to a discussion by Dr. Norman R. King,
Professor of Geology at the University of Southern Indiana, about the rocks
exposed at the I-170 highway cut. Dr. King describes the rock units and
correlates them with rock units elsewhere in the Midcontinent region.
He interprets their environments of deposition, and also places them in the
context of larger-scale geological processes taking place in the Midcontinent
region and around the globe during the Pennsylvanian Period.
