In the something more than three months since DGL update #198, I've added six new names to the Dinosaur Genera List and updated five others. I held off this DGL update awaiting copies of the relevant papers, and now that some have arrived, I can begin to clear out the little backlog that has developed. This update covers the first two of the six new entries; the others I'll deal with in updates over the next week or three. Names #971 and 972 are Dromaeosauroides Christiansen & Bonde, 2003 Lusotitan Telles Antunes & Mateus, 2003 Here are their Dinosaur Catalogue entries (apologies for awkward typography): Dromaeosauroides Christiansen & Bonde, 2003 Theropoda > Tetanurae > Coeluria > Maniraptora > Deinonychosauria > Dromaeosauridae > Dromaeosaurinae Dromaeosauroides bornholmensis Christiansen & Bonde, 2003† Lower Cretaceous > Upper Berriasian/Valanginian (Ryazanian) > Nyker Grp. > Jydegaard Fm. > clay layer above "Robbedale Gravel" and Neomiodon bed Europe > Denmark > Isle of Bornholm > Robbedale, E of Rønne > Carl Nielsen's Pit MGUH DK 315: Anterior dentary tooth Hypodigm APK:1/0: Holotype tooth only The initial description of Dromaeosauroides bornholmensis by Christiansen & Bonde (2003) was supplemented by a more detailed description (including the specimen number, not yet assigned in the initial paper) in Bonde & Christiansen (2003) and Lusotitan Telles Antunes & Mateus, 2003 Brontosauria > Sauropoda > Eusauropoda > Brachiosauridae Lusotitan atalaiensis (de Lapparent & Zbyszewski, 1957) Telles Antunes & Mateus, 2003† Brachiosaurus atalaiensis de Lapparent & Zbyszewski, 1957: Original name Brachiosaurus ataliensis Paul, 1988: Misspelling Brachiosaurus botalaiensis Janensch, 1961: Misspelling Upper Jurassic > Tithonian > Sobral Unit Europe > Portugal > Lourinhã Municipality > Peralta, near Atalaia MIGM 4798, 4801–10, 4938, 4944, 4950, 4952, 4958, 4964–66, 4981–82, 4985, 8793–95, 8807: Individual elements of a partial skeleton comprising 2 anterior cervicals, 1 mid-dorsal, 2 neural arches, 3 anterior caudal centra, series of 18 caudals, 12 chevrons, ribs (one of which was originally identified as a metacarpal II), scapula?, distal epiphysis, 2 humeri, proximal left ulna & radius, partial left ilium, ischium & pubis, left tibia, proximal right fibula, and right astragalus, originally part of the type series for Brachiosaurus atalaiensis Hypodigm APK:0/35: Isolated vertebrae from five Portuguese localities, originally part of the type series of Brachiosaurus atalaiensis, in addition to lectotype partial skeleton These are the relevant citations: Christiansen, Per & Bonde, Niels, 2003. "The first dinosaur from Denmark," Neues Jahrbuch der Geologie und Paläontologie Abhandlungen 227(2): 287–299 [February 2003]. Bonde, Niels & Christiansen, Per, 2003. "Dinosaurs of Portugal," Comptes Rendus Palevol 2, Systematic Paleontology: 77–95. When I entered these names into the Dinosaur Genera List, the latter two articles were already on the Internet, so I had to make an awkward notation for the authorship of Dromaeosauroides that made it appear as if the second paper had been published before the first (which contains the actual description of Dromaeosauroides). This I subsequently corrected once I received a copy of the first paper, which I realized certainly appeared in print before the second. As usual, additions and corrections to The Dinosaur Catalogue entries are most welcome.
