It is with great sadness that I announce to the paleontological community that Dr Noor Farsan died on 23 April 2003, at the age of 62, after a prolonged period of illness. Noor was one of the very few specialists on tentaculitids in the world and had been working at the Geologisch-Paläontologisches Institut of the University of Heidelberg since 1989, initially as a research fellow of the DFG and in later years as a museum curator and associate professor. He will be greatly missed by all of us, his colleagues and students.
