Leigh did not blame creationists. He cited anti-evolutionist (not creationist) agitation as a possible reason for cutting the museum, but didn't say he thought this was the actual reason. He also didn't lump anti-evolutionists (by which I think he must mean activist literalists) with deists: he didn't mention deists at all, as far as I can see.
