Postdoctoral Fellowship, Paleobiology Department Smithsonian Institution National Museum of Natural History, Washington, D. C. Posting Date: 20 February 2003 Closing Date: 31 March 2003 Applications are invited for a two-year Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Invertebrate Paleontology. This appointment provides salary ($35 K/yr), benefits, and a modest research/travel allowance ($2 K/yr). The successful applicant will be expected to: 1) conduct independent research and be involved in the scholarly activities of the department; and 2) plan and oversee a project to make digital images of type and figured specimens in the Springer Collection of fossil echinoderms available over the web. Applicants should have a proven record of research accomplishment, knowledge of echinoderms, and familiarity with digital imaging, databasing, and web-site building. A Ph.D. is required before the start of the post-doc, which must be initiated before 31 September 2003.
