paleonet Digital camera through the microscope

I know that there are commercially available attachments to allow some
non-SLR digital cameras to be mounted over a microscope.  Many use the
Nikon CoolPix range, but the Canon PowerShot G2 / G3 can apparently be used.

I'd welcome any comments about ease of use and quality of results from
anyone with appropriate experience.  The microscopes would be in the Leica
range (Laborlux 12 POL with trinocular head and Wild M8 stereomic. with
camera tube).
