That email about the jdbgmgr.exe supposed virus has turned out to be a hoax. Thank you to all those who put me right on this directly; I'll reply to each in due course. Please don't delete your jdbgmgr.exe file as it is a Java debugging file - I would guess the manager. If you have, sorry. I haven't got one anymore so I can't give you mine - but perhaps you know someone with a similar system. However, Gary M tells me www.sophos.com holds details about virus hoaxes and how to reinstall your VBmanager file. Some general virus sites that might be worth visiting before doing anything that might pass on something one might fear one has are: www.virusbtn.com/ www.symantec.com/avcenter/hoax.html www.vmyths.com/hoax.cfm www.vmyths.com/index.cfm www.viruslist.com/ www.viruslist.com/eng/ www.kasamba.com/view.asp?catid=1145 www.snopes.com/computer/virus/quickfix.htm www.lancs.ac.uk/users/isstrain/a-virus/advice.htm www.canteach.ca/links/linkcompvirus.html Other places on computer viruses, probably mainly this one are: http://vil.mcafee.com/dispVirus.asp?virus_k=99436 http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/jdbgmgr.htm http://newsarch.rootsweb.com/th/read/MITCHELL/2002-05/1021515285 http://antivirus.about.com/library/weekly/aa050702a.htm In fact, in that annoying moment of hightened enlightenment just after sending the email, I suspected I was doing the wrong thing :-( . Just thought I'd let you know, the sharpest person with their reply was a philosopher ;-) JJ Sorry again, particularly to paleonet. BTW - now its based in UK - will it change to "palaeonet" ?
