Hi everyone, We hereby invite you to participate in session BG4.02 "From Snowball Earth to the Cambrian bioradiation: basins, ecosystems and geochemistry" at the EGS-AGU-EUG Joint Assembly in Nice, France, 06-11 April, 2003. The terminal Neoproterozoic and early Cambrian represent a time interval in Earth history that is characterized by profound changes in geology and tectonics, climate, geochemistry of the ocean-atmosphere system, and in the evolution of life. Diverse proxy records allow a qualitative and quantitative assessment of these changes. It is our aim to bring together scientists from across all earth science disciplines who are able to provide quality data and provocative ideas for an inspiring discussion of this subject. There will be comprehensive keynote lectures by Paul F. Hoffman, Graham A. Shields, and Graham E. Budd, and we hope you will be willing to contribute a talk or a poster adding further to the value and attraction of the session. Deadline for abstracts (talks as well as posters) is January 15, 2003. See http://www.copernicus.org/egsagueug for forms and instructions, as well as meeting programme (click on "Programme & Call-for-Papers" and then "Biogeosciences Programme" to find our session). The final deadline for pre-registration is March 7, 2003, but note that registration before December 31, 2002, entails a lower registration fee. (On-site registration at a higher fee will also be possible.) Welcome to spring-time Provence! Harald Strauss (Convener; hstrauss@uni-muenster.de) Heinrich Bahlburg, Stefan Bengtson and Samuel A. Bowring (Co-Conveners)
