Molluscan Paleontology: A west coast perspective

WESTERN SOCIETY OF MALACOLOGISTS
Annual Meeting, June 6-10, 2003

Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County

The 36th annual meeting of the Western Society of Malacologists will be
held at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, Los Angeles,
California. A symposium entitled Molluscan Paleontology: A west coast
perspective is tentatively scheduled for Monday morning, June 9, that will
spotlight current fossil molluscan research in western North America
organized by Lindsey T. Groves (LACM). A field excursion to collect in the
highly fossiliferous Miocene, Topanga Formation is planned but details are
pending.
Although the meeting is 6 months away, feedback from any and all
paleomalacologists interested in participating and/or attending in this
symposium is greatly appreciated. This information is rather critical as
it will allow for an accurate "head-count" for scheduling purposes.
Oral presentations should be limited to 20 minutes, including time for
questions and/or discussions. As always posters are an acceptable
alternative to an oral presentation, and there is no limit to the number of
posters. Abstracts an/or extended abstracts will be published in the WSM
Annual Report.
Please contact Lindsey T. Groves <lgroves@nhm.org> privately for
additional information on this session. Questions pertaining to the
meeting (ie., registration, accommodations, etc.) should be directed to WSM
President Dr. Ángel Valdés <avaldes@nhm.org> or view the updated WSM
website at: http://www.nhm.org/research/malacology/avaldes/wsm/index.html

See you in June!
