Salary range £35,000 -
£40,000 per annum
The Department of Palaeontology of The Natural History Museum
(London) is seeking a Palaeontological Consultancy Leader to
contribute to and help manage its external-income-generation
activities and to support its research themes. This is a unique
position design for an innovative palaeontologically-oriented business
manager whose overall task will be to invigorate and expand the
Palaeontology Department's current consultancy programmes and
attract new sources of funding for Department projects.
In addition to biostratigraphical consultancy operations, the
successful candidate will have direct strategic and co-managerial
input to all Department income-generation activities (e.g., management
of research-grant overheads, commercial writing, the fossil replicas
programme, Dept. media work) and be responsible for promoting Dept.
products and services in the global marketplace.
Essential requirements for
application include:
- A post-graduate degree in
Palaeontology (or equivalent)
- At least 2 years experience
with biostratigraphical consultancy or with the
management of biostratigraphical consultants
- Familiarity with business
organizational/administrative practices
- A record of publication in
peer-reviewed journals and/or authorship of
technical consultancy reports
- Computer literacy
- Creativity
- Good organizational
skills
- Ability to work in and to lead
teams
- Good communication skills
(written and verbal)
- Proactive, business-savvy
personality
This appointment will be made initially as a 3-year contract with an
option for transfer to a permanent position after performance
review.
