Dear Paleonetters, "Nomen nudum" is the newsletter of the Association of Australasian Palaeontologists (AAP). For many years it has been produced in paper form only. In line with recent newsletters of many scientific associations we have now moved it to a web based format. The latest edition (27) can be accessed in both html and pdf format from:- http://www.es.mq.edu.au/mucep/aap/nomennudum/current.htm It contains book reviews, meeting reports, announcements and research reports from AAP members (some of whom work outside Australasia) and a bibliography. As there has been a lag in publication, edition 27 covers the period 1999-2000. The next will cover the period 2001-2002 and the newsletter will revert to being an annual production thereafter. In it you will see an announcement for the forthcoming IPC2002 congress in Sydney later this year. The organisers have been inundated with abstracts and registrations, numbers are rapidly climbing towards 400 from 35 nations. This is shaping up as a hallmark scientific and cultural event in palaeontology, the largest ever in our part of the globe! If you haven't registered, take advantage of the undervalued aussie dollar and do so now! IPC2002 congress info, including field trips, scientific sessions, associated events, science teachers program - "A Festival of Fossils" etc, can be accessed from: http://www.es.mq.edu.au/mucep/ipc2002/index.htm Hope to see you there!
