-----------

Dear Sir or Madame:

   The Ichnology Newsletter was revived in March, 1997, at the Fourth
International Ichnofabric Workshop on San Salvador, Bahamas. Last
published in 1990, the Newsletter is an informal annual publication that
disseminates current news on all aspects of ichnology, the study of
organism-sediment relationships. If your geologic, paleontologic,
ecologic, biologic, or hydrologic research is on burrows, tubes, tracks,
borings, bioerosion, biodeposition, animal-sediment interactions, eggs, or
roots, you may be interested in the Ichnology Newsletter.

   The Newsletter will include:

*	Announcements and reviews of meetings
*	Announcements and reviews of books
*	News items
*	Graphics; may include art and humor
*	Current research (contributed by subscribers)
*	Names, addresses, and other contact information for subscribers
* Checklist of new ichnotaxa
*	Bibliography of hundreds of recent ichnologic publications

The Ichnology Newsletter is a large document; the last few issues ranged
from about 50 to 120 pages long. The next issue will be of comparable
length, and will be published by January, 1998.

   To contribute to the Newsletter, please fill out the information sheet,
and feel free to distribute it to others. We would like to have your
contribution even if you do not wish to subscribe at this time. The
subscription for this issue is USD 12.00 (21 DM), payable as described
below. Do not send cash. A limited number of free copies will be
available to researchers in Second- and Third-World countries on request,
depending on our finances. If you wish to make more free copies available
to others, your donation would be very welcome.

   Your contribution to the Newsletter will reach an international audience
of the scientists who are most interested in your work. Please help us
produce this issue of the Ichnology Newsletter by sending your contribution
by October 1, 1997.

   Best regards,
