Concerning your request for information on biostrat work on Egyptian Paleocene, definitely contact: Birger Schmitz, Univ. Goteborg, Dept. Marine Geology, S-41381 Goteburg, Sweden He and his group have done detailed work on 10-20 Paleocene sections in Egypt. He could provide important information and get you in contact with biostratigraphers working on Paleocene. > Correlation of foram + nannozones (Paleocene) > > Currently, I am working at a paper (part of my PhD) which deals with > the correlation of the biozones of planktonic foraminifera and > calcareous nannofossils in the Paleocene of Sinai (Egypt). For our study in Sinai, the correlation seems to be consistent. > The discrepancies with the results from other areas may include > paleoecological effects, different search intensity of the different > foram+nanno-workers, problems with identification, undeciphered hiatuses > etc. Any suggestions? > > Cheers > > Sebastian Luening > > Sebastian Luening > University of Bremen > FB5 - Geosciences > Box 33 04 40 > 28334 Bremen, Germany > Tel. +421-218-7144 > FAX +421-218-4515 > e-mail: luening@uni-bremen.de > http://www.palmod.uni-bremen.de/FB5/geochron/wwwlueni.htm > _________________________________________________________________________ Thomas E.
