The goal of our project is to find ecological and developmental determinants of tooth shape evolution. Thus, we aim to combine the methodologies of paleontology and molecular developmental biology. The successful candidate would work mainly on the general aspects of dental shape evolution in different mammalian groups (e.g., Science 1996 27: 1489), depending on candidate's interests and background. The project would be based in Helsinki (Finland), but it would also involve visiting major collections abroad. Funding is up to three years, including stipend and travel allowance.
