IBERPAL. A new paleontological list.

(With PaleoNet owner permission, I send the following information
about a new paleontological list. Spanish version available after
the english one).


Dear Paleonetters:

We announce the starting of a  new mailing list: IBERPAL
-Lista de discusion sobre Paleontologia Iberica e
Iberoamericana- which has been set up based on LISTSERV.
The main purpose of IBERPAL is to keep a close communication
among Spanish-speaking paleontologists world-wide.  Although
Spanish is the main language used by IBERPAL, it is also
open to messages and news in Portuguese, Italian and
French.

The original idea to establish IBERPAL came from discussions
among a number of members of the Spanish Paleontological
Society whom initially conceived it as an electronic
addition to our printed Newsletter (Noticias
Paleontologicas); however, it was decided to make IBERPAL
readily open by giving access to it to all the Ibero-
American paleontologists (both professionals and amateurs).
Therefore, we treat it as an open, non-refereed listing
aimed to improve communication among the paleontological
community.

*How to subscribe to IBERPAL:
Send an e-mail message to the following address:

listserv@listserv.uv.es

Include the following message:  subscribe iberpal <full name>

Replace <full name> with your name (not an e-mail address).
Leave the heading -subject- blank, any messages in the
subject will be ignored by the server.

If all went OK, you will receive a confirmation message
stating you are a new member of IBERPAL and a few
instructions to follow.

*After you have subscribed, you can post messages by sending
them to:

iberpal@listserv.uv.es

Estimados subscriptores de PaleoNet:

Os comunicamos la puesta en marcha de IBERPAL "Lista de discusion sobre 
Paleontologia (Iberica e Iberoamericana)", una nueva lista de tematica 
paleontologica, basada en LISTSERV.

Su objetivo inicial es mantener una mas estrecha comunicacion entre los 
paleontologos de habla hispana y, por extension, de otras lenguas latinas.
Por ello, aunque su idioma principal sea el espan~ol, tenemos la puerta
abierta a mensajes en Portugues, Italiano y Frances.

La iniciativa parte de varios miembros de la Sociedad Espan~ola de
Paleontologia (SEP), que la concebimos en principio como un complemento
al boletin interno de la SEP (Noticias Paleontologicas), pero hemos
preferido hacerla mucho mas abierta, ofreciendola a todos los paleontologos 
iberoamericanos (profesionales y aficionados). Se trata pues de una lista 
abierta, no moderada, donde esperamos agilizar las comunicaciones entre
nuestro colectivo.

Substituir <nombre_completo> por vuestro nombre (no direccion e-mail).
No poner firma; el 'asunto' (subject) del mensaje sera ignorado por el
servidor.

Si la subscripcion es correcta, recibireis un mensaje de confirmacion,
con instrucciones mas detalladas sobre la utilizacion de la lista.
