Norm MacLeod ---------- WESTERN KENTUCKY UNIVERSITY Department of Geography and Geology (http://www.wku.edu/www/geoweb/) The Department seeks to fill a tenure-track position in geology at the rank of assistant professor starting August, 1996. A completed Ph.D. is preferred. Applications are invited from persons specializing either in environmental geology or invertebrate paleontology, though preference will be given to a well-qualified environmental geologist. (1) Environmental Geology/Low Temperature Geochemistry. Candidates must have teaching ability in both areas. Research interest in geologic hazards, aqueous geochemistry, surface water hydrology, or surficial processes is desired. <or> (2) Invertebrate Paleontology. Candidates also must have teaching ability in introductory historical geology. Research experience in Paleozoic rocks is preferred. The department emphasizes high-quality undergraduate education and seeks a versatile geologist with strong background in the traditional areas of the science. The appointee will be an excellent teacher at the introductory level as well as the specialty area and will be expected to develop an appropriate research program involving undergraduates.
