PaleoNetters: For those of you attending the GSA Annual meeting in New Orleans next week, there is a meeting that may be of interest to you. The late Cenozoic biostratigraphy used by the oil companies has been discussed in previous posts to this listserver. The on-going project to develop a "Gulf Coast Equivalency Chart" will have a working meeting during the GSA. We have a space at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Sunday, November 5 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm. The room is the Bayou "B". Unfortunately, it's listed in the program as "SEPM Paleontological Network". The session is expected to be concentrated on foraminiferal and calcareous nannofossil events from the Oligocene through the Pleistocene. If you're going to be in town and have interest in the project, feel free to drop in. The project is being run by an ad hoc committee of the Gulf Coast Section-SEPM. Garry Jones of Unocal and Rich Lane of Amoco posted a description of the project to PaleoNet and Micropal back in late September.
