Velikovsky,

Wasn't he the Russian guy who thought that the dinosaurs were
exterminated by a comet spewed out of a volcano on Jupiter.  I'm not
sure of the exact details, but I'm sure there is a chapter on him in
Carl Sagan's book "Broca's Brain".

I assume 'Velikovskyite' refers to theories which follow along this
approximate line.
