For fossil skeletal apatites may I suggest that apatites from living animals as a starting point. A large amount has been published on trace element uptake and half-life and on Ca/P ratios. You can subscribe to a list that deals with apatites of extant animals. Send the following message to listserv@um.usc.edu subscribe Calcif-L your name. This list is supervised by Malcolm Snead (mlsnead@zygote.hsc.usc.edu). Silly comments about subscribe requests that are sent to the wrong address are not forwarded.
