Re: Supernova causing P/T boundry mass extinctions?

I heard a rumor about the paper, apparently in the recent PNAS, but for
the K/T rather than the P/Tr. Of course the idea is hardly new, Otto
shindewolf invoked supernova as a cause of numerous events, notably the
Cambrian explosion and the P/Tr, during the late 1950's. One might consider
the difficulty of testing the idea directly. The obvious indirect test
involves consideration of extinction selectivity and fails for the P/Tr,
as I discussed in my book on the P/Tr.
