Actually, sometimes after discussion we wind up with 5 closely spaced indexes that provide real good resolution. Problem is we often don't get together talk and look at fossils before things spin out of control. This has been aggrivated by workers who have "secret bugs" (management imposed restrictions often as not) which they can't or won't discuss. Fortunately the secret bug syndrome is much reduced since management has decided that paleo is "a mature technology" and really isn't worth keeping secret anymore.
