Yes!!!!!!

It is all a sort of convenient shorthand so that we can all recognise the 
item that we refer to without having to keep redescribing it. Use of broad 
classificatory terms for field use is not at all easy if the item has to be 
broken down into numbers, or any other laboratory-based identificatory 
system, if it comes to that.
