Yesterday, the International Organisations of Palaeobotany's Plant Fossil Record database version 2.1 was placed on the WWW. The URL is http://www.uel.ac.uk/palaeo/ though it can be found in many of the biodiversity directories such as that of the Australia National University. The database contains more than 750,000 records of occurrences of fossil plants from the literature, searches (taxon, age, place or/and author) and lists or maps each record. Each genus is described to varying levels of detail. Version 2.1 allows you to extend your search automatically to servers of other databases (Smithsonian, Berkeley and Peabody so far, but more are on their way). There are also demonstrations of graphical presentations and a PalaeoTalk feature.
