The following message was posted to DataBaseNet but is of interest to the Paleo. Community at large. ---------- I have assembled hundreds of paleontologists' e-mail addresses which I would be willing to exchange for any addresses which you may have. Hopefully, the next "Directory of Paleontologists of the World Directory" will include this information, along with FAX no.'s, so any help you can provide me will be passed to the next editor of the directory. Rex Doescher NHB E-206 Smithsonian Institution Washington, DC 20560 (202) 357-4284 (202) 786-2832 (FAX) e-mail- mnhpb002@sivm.si.edu ---------- I will not be supplying the list of PaleoNet subscribers to the Smithsonian Directory as a matter of principle. But I encourage all PaleoNet subscribers to consider adding their e-mail addresses to the Smithsonian's Directory. PaleoNet (and all it's specialty listservers) have also changed the manner in which replies to postings are handled. Previously the default was to route these replies to the individual's e-mail address. Software installed this week on the NHM computer network allows for this default to be changed and replies to be routed to the list at large. This change in the reply routing default has been instituted as of today. From here on out if you use your e-mail program's default reply to a PaleoNet (or DataBaseNet, CollectionsNet, etc.) posting, that message will be routed to the entire PaleoNet (or DataBaseNet, CollectionsNet, etc.) list rather than to the e-mail address of the original author. This change is intended to promote the exchange of information among PaleoNet subscribers regardless of whether or not they are actively participating in a PaleoNet conversation. The appropriate changes have been made to the Welcome texts of all PaleoNet listservers. Next week I'll be working on socking the PaleoNet ftp site. Look for announcements on this topic soon. Also, if anyone would like to place a program, list, meeting announcement, etc. in the ftp site please contact me. Thanks for participating in PaleoNet.
